How to Make Turkish Chicken Doner Kebab at Home
Ingredients
- Chicken thigh · boneless skinless2 lb
- Onion · grated1
- Olive oil¼ cups
- Garlic · minced3 cloves
- Yoghurt3 tbsp
- Tomato paste1 ½ tbsp
- Oregano1 tsp
- Salt1 tsp
- Black pepper¼ tsp
- Aleppo pepper1 tsp
- Bread
- Tomato
- Cucumber
- Fries
Instructions
- Cut small slits into the chicken thighs so the marinade can soak in, then put them in a bowl.
- Add the grated onion, olive oil, minced garlic, yogurt, tomato paste, oregano, kosher salt, black pepper and Aleppo pepper to the bowl.
- Coat the chicken thoroughly in the marinade.
- Lay the marinated chicken on plastic wrap and roll it tightly into a cylinder, sealing the ends. Use 2 sheets of wrap if needed so no marinade leaks.
- Freeze for 6 to 8 hours to firm it up.
- Take the chicken out of the freezer and leave it on the counter for 10 to 15 minutes. Then slice it thinly with a sharp knife.
- Heat a pan over medium-high heat and add a drizzle of olive oil if needed. Sear the slices for about 1 minute per side, taking care not to overcook them so they stay juicy.
- Do not crowd the pan, or the chicken will steam instead of getting crispy.
