How to make Turmeric Latte
Ingredients
- Milk1 cup
- Turmeric · ground1–1 ¼ tsp
- Cardamom · ground¼ tsp
- Cinnamon · ground¼–⅓ tsp
- Black pepper1–2 pinches
- Ginger¼ inches
- Vanilla¼ tsp
- Maple syrup1–1 ½ tbsp
Instructions
- Put the ginger (if using), black pepper, cinnamon, cardamom and turmeric in a saucepan.
- Optional for a stronger flavor: add ¼ cup water, bring to a boil, then simmer for 3 to 4 minutes.
- Pour in the milk and whisk well. Add the maple syrup or sugar and the vanilla extract.
- Heat over medium flame until steam rises from the milk. Do not boil; remove from heat at 145 to 155 °F (62 to 68 °C).
- Froth the milk in one of three ways: by whisking in the saucepan (use a deep pan or tall jar; start an electric mixer on low, then medium), by shaking it in a tightly lidded mason jar for about 5 minutes, or with a milk frother for 25 to 30 seconds after straining into a deep container.
- Leave out the turmeric that settles at the bottom, then serve immediately.
