How to make Vanilla Cake
Ingredientes
- Flour2 tazas
- Sugar1 ⅓ tazas
- Baking powder1 cdta.
- Baking soda½ cdtas.
- Salt½ cdtas.
- Butter225 g
- Egg8
- Milk125 ml
- Sour cream120 g
- Vanilla
Preparación
- In a stand mixer bowl (or large bowl for a hand mixer), combine the flour, half the sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt, and mix briefly.
- On low speed, add the butter about a tablespoon at a time. The butter must be at room temperature. The mixture should look like wet sand with a few small butter pieces.
- In a smaller clean bowl, whisk together the eggs, remaining sugar, milk and sour cream.
- With the mixer on medium, pour the wet ingredients into the dry and mix for about 1-2 minutes until combined.
- Divide the batter evenly between three 6-inch cake pans that are lined and greased (or two 8-inch pans).
- Bake at 180°C / 350°F for 25-30 minutes, until a cake tester comes out clean.
- Cool the cakes completely in their pans before decorating.
- Make the vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream using the linked recipe, which the text does not include.
- Level the cake tops with a serrated knife.
- Spread 1/3 cup of the buttercream over one cake and smooth it into an even layer with an offset spatula. Top with another cake and repeat.
- Place the last cake upside down, so its flat bottom faces up, on top.
- Cover the cake with the remaining buttercream.
- Refrigerate the cake for at least 30 minutes to set before serving.
