How to Make WINE COOKIES (Italian Biscotti) | Taralli al Vino
Ingredients
- Red wine1
- Sugar½ cups
- Extra virgin olive oil½ cups
- Flour5 cups
- Baking powder
Instructions
- Pour the red wine into a large mixing bowl.
- Add the sugar and mix well, then stir in the olive oil.
- Add the flour one cup at a time, mixing well after each addition, until the mixture comes together into a dough.
- Knead the soft, not-too-sticky dough on a large board by pressing, rolling forward and back, and folding it a few times.
- Line a large baking tray with baking paper and preheat the oven to 180°C / 356°F.
- Roll a small piece of dough into a long rope about 1 cm thick.
- Cut a short strip, then roll it around your index finger so the two ends slightly overlap to form a ring.
- Press one side of each ring into the plate of white sugar, then place it sugar-side up on the tray.
- Once the tray is full, bake for 20 to 25 minutes.
- Let the cookies cool on the tray for 10 to 15 minutes before serving.
