Japanese Shrimp Rice Bowl with Garlic Butter
Ingredients
- Shrimp340 g
- Garlic30 g
- Sake2 tbsp
- Salt¼ tsp
- Olive oil1 tbsp
- Soy sauce1 ½ tbsp
- Butter28 g
- Rice · cooked2
- Lemon1
- Scallion1
Instructions
- Peel and devein the shrimp, pat dry, then mix with the garlic, sake and salt. Marinate for an hour if you have time, or cook straight away.
- Heat a frying pan over high heat until hot. Add the olive oil and shrimp in a single layer and pan-fry until cooked halfway through.
- Flip the shrimp and cook for another 20-30 seconds. When mostly cooked, stir-fry until fully cooked and the garlic starts to brown.
- Add the butter and, once it is half melted, add the soy sauce. Toss the shrimp in the sauce to coat and emulsify, and do not cook longer than needed to coat them, or the sauce will break.
- Serve the shrimp over the cooked rice, garnished with the scallion and lemon.
