Jowar Roti Recipe
Ingredients
- Flour1 ¼ cups
- Salt¾ tsp
- Ghee1 tbsp
Instructions
- Bring the water to a gentle boil in a medium pot, then turn off the heat.
- Stir in the salt and flour with a slotted spoon, cover, and let rest for 5 minutes.
- Cut a 7-inch x 7-inch square of parchment paper.
- Knead the dough in a mixing bowl until smooth, then divide it into 4 balls and cover them with a damp paper towel.
- Preheat the pan over low-medium heat.
- Coat one dough ball in the dry jowar flour, then roll it on the parchment into a 6-inch circle.
- Place the roti on the pan and brush the top with a little water. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes, until the water has dried.
- Flip the roti and cook the bottom for 3 to 4 minutes, until fully cooked with light golden spots.
- Flip again, on the pan or directly over the flame, and press gently with a clean towel if on the pan so it puffs up.
- Brush with ghee if you like, then repeat with the remaining dough. Stack the rotis and wrap them in a paper towel or clean kitchen towel to keep them soft.
