Juicy Italian Meatballs Parmesan – Easy Dinner!
Ingredients
- Bread3 slices
- Milk½ cups
- Ground beef1 lb
- Ground pork1 lb
- Parmesan cheese · finely grated½ cups
- Egg1
- Garlic3
- Parsley2 tbsp
- Salt1 tsp
- Black pepper · cracked½ tsp
- Oil for frying
- Marinara sauce3 cups
- Mozzarella cheese · shredded1 ½ cups
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F with the rack in the centre.
- Put the diced bread in a large bowl, pour over the milk or water, soak for 5 minutes, then mash with a fork.
- Add the beef, pork, half the parmesan, the egg, garlic, parsley, salt and black pepper. Mix with your hands until just combined, without overworking. If it is not very moist, add a little more milk.
- Shape into meatballs about 1 1/2 inches across, roughly 2 tablespoons each, with wet hands.
- Heat about 2 tablespoons of oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Brown the meatballs in batches, turning every 2 minutes, for about 8 minutes per batch. They do not need to be cooked through.
- Spread 1 cup of marinara in a 9x13 dish. Arrange the browned meatballs in a single layer, pour the rest of the marinara over them, and top with the remaining parmesan and the mozzarella.
- Cover with foil and bake for about 30 minutes, until the meatballs reach 165°F inside, the cheese has melted and the sauce is bubbling.
