Korean Street Food Fried Shrimp!!
Ingredients
- Shrimp12–15
- Salt
- Black pepper
- Flour½ cups
- Egg2
- Breadcrumb1 ½ cups
- Garlic powder1 tsp
- Onion powder1 tsp
- Chili flake · flakes1 tsp
- Turmeric1 tsp
- Frying oil
Instructions
- Remove the shell from the body only, leaving the head and tail on. Cut off the eyes and the spiky part of the head and the spine between the tail parts with scissors. Remove the vein with a toothpick or skewer. Lightly season with salt and pepper.
- Set out the flour, beaten eggs and panko in three wide, shallow dishes.
- Season each of the three coatings with garlic powder, onion powder, gochugaru and turmeric, dividing the listed amounts into three. Add a pinch each of salt and pepper to all three.
- Heat frying oil to 375°F. Dredge each shrimp in flour, shake off the excess, dip in egg, then press in panko. Hold the tail so no breading gets on it.
- Hold the tail with tongs and dip only the head into the oil for 10 to 15 seconds. Then lower the whole shrimp in and fry for 4 minutes, until cooked through and golden brown.
- Drain on paper towels or a wire rack set over a baking sheet, then repeat with the remaining shrimp.
