Lebanese Lemon Garlic Chicken (Al Aseel restaurant copycat)
Ingredients
- Chicken breast500 g
- Yoghurt1 ¼ cups
- Lemon4 tbsp
- Garlic1 ¼ tbsp
- Olive oil3 tbsp
- Salt2 tsp
- Extra virgin olive oil2 tbsp
- Tahini1 tbsp
- Parsley1 tsp
- Bread
Instructions
- Mix the marinade ingredients in a bowl, add the chicken, toss to coat and refrigerate for 12 to 24 hours.
- Put the sauce ingredients in a microwave-safe bowl and whisk. Set aside for at least 1 hour to let the garlic flavour develop.
- Drain excess marinade from the chicken. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a large non-stick pan over high heat. Cook half the chicken for 1½ to 2 minutes per side until golden. Remove to a plate.
- Wipe loose black bits out of the pan, reheat the remaining oil and cook the rest of the chicken the same way. Rest for 2 minutes.
- While the chicken rests, microwave the sauce for 40 seconds until warm but not hot, then whisk well. Add more lemon for tang, or water to loosen if too thick.
- Spread half the sauce in a shallow bowl, lay the chicken on top, spoon over the remaining sauce, drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with parsley.
