My Desi Tres Leches You Have To Make a for Diwali
Ingredients
- Condensed milk200 ml
- Evaporated milk380 ml
- Milk200 ml
- Bay leaf2
- Cinnamon stick1
- Cardamom · powder4 + ½ tsp
- Madeira loaf1
- Crème fraîche500 ml
- Vanilla1 tsp
- Sugar3 tbsp
- Pistachio · dried
Instructions
- Put the condensed milk, evaporated milk and full-fat milk in a pot over medium heat and stir until small bubbles appear.
- Add the bay leaves, cinnamon stick, cardamom pods and cardamom powder.
- Stir for 10 minutes until the mixture looks like chai. Keep stirring, since condensed milk sinks and can burn; if it starts to burn, strain it right away.
- Strain after 10 minutes and let the mixture cool until warm.
- Slice the Madeira cake evenly and place the slices in a square casserole dish.
- Once the mixture has cooled, pour some over the cake.
- Let the cake soak it up, adding more every 10 minutes rather than all at once, so it does not turn mushy.
- When the cake has soaked up the liquid, set it aside. Whip the fresh cream with the vanilla essence and icing sugar until stiff peaks form.
- Make sure the soaked cake is completely cool, then pipe or spread the whipped cream over it.
- Top with chopped pistachios and dried rose petals.
- Serve now, or refrigerate for a few hours or overnight for a thicker liquid.
