One Pan Chicken Sausage Orzo Quick 15 Minute Dinner Recipe #dinnerrecipe #chickenrecipe
Ingredients
- Olive oil1 tbsp
- Chicken sausage · diced12 oz
- Onion · diced1
- Soup pasta1 cup
- Thyme · dried2 tsp
- Chicken broth2 ½ cups
- Spinach3–4 cups
- Lemon1
- Salt
- Black pepper
Instructions
- Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the diced chicken sausage and cook until browned and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add a little oil if needed. Add the diced onion and sauté until softened and translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the orzo and dried thyme. Stir often and toast for 2-3 minutes, until the orzo smells fragrant and is lightly golden.
- Pour in the hot broth to cover the orzo. Bring to a simmer, then reduce to medium-low. Cook, stirring now and then, about 8-10 minutes, until the orzo is al dente and most of the liquid is absorbed.
- Return the sausage to the skillet. Scatter the spinach on top, stir to combine, then cover and remove from the heat. Let steam 2-3 minutes until the spinach wilts.
- Stir everything together. Add a generous squeeze of lemon juice and the lemon zest, then season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve immediately.
