Ingredients
- Salmon4
- Salt¾ tsp
- Black pepper · ground¼ tsp
- Garlic powder1 tsp
- Onion powder1 tsp
- Paprika1 tsp
- Basil · dried1 tsp
- Parsley · dried1 tsp
- Olive oil2 tbsp
- ➫ Pepper Flakes
- Lemon
Instructions
- Pat the room-temperature salmon fillets dry with paper towel on both sides.
- In a small bowl, mix the 3/4 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, dried basil and dried parsley to make the seasoning.
- Spoon about 1 teaspoon of seasoning over each fillet and rub it in with your fingers so it is evenly spread.
- Heat a cast iron skillet or grill pan over medium heat. Add 1 tablespoon of the olive oil, swirl to coat, and heat for 1–2 minutes until shimmering.
- Place the salmon skin side down in the pan and cook undisturbed for about 5 minutes, or less for thinner fish. Cook 3 fillets at a time in a grill pan or 2 at a time in a 10-inch skillet.
- Flip the salmon and cook for about 4 more minutes, until opaque and it flakes easily, or until your preferred doneness. Thick fillets may need 4–5 minutes.
- Remove the salmon from the pan at about 140°F (60°C); it will keep cooking as it rests. Repeat with the remaining fillets, adding the remaining olive oil to the pan first.
- Serve warm.
