Pasta in white sauce recipe | How to make white sauce pasta recipe
Ingredients
- Pasta1 cup
- Milk1 ½ cups
- Flour1 ½ tbsp
- Butter2 tbsp
- Black pepper¼ tsp
- Garlic2
- Oregano½ tsp
- Salt
- Chili flake · flakes½ tsp
- Heavy cream¼ cups
- Carrot¼ cups
- Sweet corn¼ cups
- Broccoli¼ cups
- Bell pepper¼ cups
Instructions
- Boil pasta in a large pot of salted water on medium-high until al dente, following the package timing. Reserve 1/4 cup of the cooking water, drain, and set the pasta aside covered.
- Sauté the carrots, corn, broccoli or peas and bell peppers in 1/2 tablespoon butter for 5-6 minutes until slightly tender but still crunchy. Remove and set aside.
- Melt 2 tablespoons butter over medium heat and fry the garlic for 30-40 seconds. Stir in the flour and cook about 1 minute until it no longer smells raw.
- Off the heat, slowly whisk in 1/2 cup milk until smooth and creamy. Whisk in the remaining milk, return to medium-low and stir often, scraping the sides, until thick.
- Stir in the cream or cheese. The sauce is ready when it coats the back of a spoon and a line drawn through it stays clear.
- Stir in the vegetables, pasta, black pepper, oregano and chilli flakes. If the sauce is too thick, stir in 2 tablespoons of the reserved cooking water.
- Serve hot or warm, garnished with chilli flakes and crushed black pepper.
