Modo de preparo
- Preheat the oven to 325°F (160°C).
- Make the syrup: bring the water and sugar to a boil. Once the sugar has dissolved, take it off the heat and stir in the honey, lemon juice and flavorings. Let it cool completely.
- Mix the walnuts, almonds, cinnamon and cloves in a bowl.
- Cut the phyllo into 2 stacks that fit a 9 by 13-inch baking pan. Brush the pan with melted butter.
- Layer 8-10 sheets on the bottom, then add a handful of the nut mixture.
- Add 3-4 phyllo sheets, then nuts, repeating until 8-10 sheets remain for the top, brushing butter between layers as needed.
- Cut 3 straight lines parallel to the long side to make 4 rows, then make diagonal cuts from one corner to the opposite corner, sized to your liking.
- Pour the melted butter over the top and sprinkle a little water over the edges.
- Bake on the center rack for 1 hour and 20 minutes, or until golden all over.
- As soon as it comes out of the oven, pour 3/4 of the syrup over it, keeping the rest for later if needed.
- Leave at room temperature for 4-5 hours until set.
