Potato Bake Recipe | How to Make Cheese Potato Bake
Ingredients
- Cheese9 slices
- Butter50 g
- Mortadella4 slices
- Mixed herb
- Salt
- Sweet potato1
- Potato
- Extra virgin olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C.
- Thinly slice the potatoes and put them in a large bowl.
- Pour in a generous amount of olive oil and toss so the potatoes are coated.
- Sprinkle over the rosemary, dried mixed herbs and salt, and keep mixing until most of the potatoes have some colour.
- Rub a small cube of butter over the base and edges of a deep, medium oval or oblong baking dish to stop the bake sticking.
- Make the first layer with white potato slices and sweet potato slices, packed tightly with no gaps.
- Drizzle a little olive oil over the layer and sprinkle with a touch more herbs.
- Place a slice of mortadella on the layer, then a second slice so the potatoes are fully covered.
- Cover the mortadella with enough cheese slices to cover the layer, leaving a gap around the edges.
- Repeat with a layer of potato, mortadella and cheese, adding a little olive oil and dried herbs.
- Add a final layer of potato, filling the corners with small pieces.
- Drizzle the top with the remaining oil and some dried herbs. Push a sharp knife down to make up to six slits in the bake.
- Place several small cubes of butter over the slits.
- Bake uncovered for about 50 minutes, or until the top starts to brown.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for up to 6 minutes before serving.
