Ingredients

Instructions

  1. In a mixer bowl, combine the warm milk, eggs, sugar, melted butter and yeast and mix well. Add the flour, salt, allspice, cinnamon and ginger powder. Fit the bowl to the stand mixer, set to speed 2 (medium-low) and knead for 3 minutes.
  2. Add the mixed raisins and sultanas and the candied peel and mix until combined.
  3. Turn the dough onto a floured surface, shape it into a ball and place it in an oiled bowl. Cover and let it rise until doubled, about 1 hour.
  4. Once fully proofed, knock the air out of the dough and turn it onto the counter. Divide into 8 equal portions and shape each into a ball. Place them in a greased and lined loaf tin, cover, and let them rise while the oven preheats to 175°C (350°F).
  5. Mix the flour, powdered sugar, vanilla and milk until smooth. Transfer to a piping bag and pipe a flour cross on each bun.
  6. Bake the proofed buns for 25 minutes, until golden.
  7. Mix the softened butter and honey and brush over the hot buns.
  8. Let cool completely.
  9. Serve and enjoy.
