Salsa Verde - Tomatillo Salsa Recipe | Hilah Cooking
Ingredients
- Tomatillo5–6
- Chili pepper1
- Onion · minced½ cups
- Garlic2 cloves
- Cilantro · minced¼ cups
- Lime1 tbsp
Instructions
- Peel the husks off the tomatillos and rinse off the sticky residue.
- Place the tomatillos and the chile on a baking sheet and broil for about 5 minutes, until blistered, blackened and softened.
- Remove the stem from the chile, and the seeds too if you want a milder salsa.
- Blend everything until smooth. Blend carefully: cover the lid with a towel and hold it down firmly, as trapped steam can blow the lid off.
- If using a molcajete instead: grind the onion and garlic with salt while the tomatillos cook. Add the chile and tomatillos a few at a time and grind to a rough salsa. Finely chop the cilantro and stir it in along with the lime juice.
