Sending you some bear hugs with these teddy butter biscuits!
Ingredients
- Butter125 g
- Sugar6 tbsp
- Vegetable oil3 tbsp
- Vanilla½ tsp
- Flour1 ¾ cups
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C.
- In a mixing bowl, cream the butter or margarine with the icing sugar using a wooden spoon or electric mixer.
- Mix in the vegetable oil and vanilla essence until combined.
- Add the all-purpose or cake flour and the corn flour and mix until a clumpy dough forms.
- Use your hands to knead it into a smooth biscuit dough.
- Take out about ¼ of the dough and mix in 1-2 drops of red food colouring gel until evenly coloured.
- Wrap both doughs separately and refrigerate for 20 minutes to keep the biscuits from spreading.
- Roll out the plain dough on a floured surface and cut out teddy shapes with a teddy cutter. Place them on a baking tray.
- Roll out the red dough and cut small heart shapes that fit in the middle of the teddies.
- Place a heart in the centre of each teddy and press lightly with a finger. Fold the teddy's hands over the heart, reshaping any broken hands gently with your fingers.
- Bake for 15 minutes in the preheated oven.
- Let the biscuits cool completely on the tray before moving them, as they are fragile until firm.
