#shorts 3-ingredient Cinnamon Sugar Twists
Ingredients
- Puff pastry2
- Sugar¼ cups
- Cinnamon · ground2 tsp
- Egg1
Instructions
- Thaw the puff pastry sheets overnight in the refrigerator (or leave them at room temperature for about 40 minutes).
- Mix the cinnamon and sugar and set aside. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- Roll out one pastry sheet on parchment or a baking mat and cut a 12-inch circle, then trim the excess. Repeat with the second sheet.
- Place one round on the lined tray, sprinkle the cinnamon sugar over it, leaving a 1-inch border. Brush the border with water, lay the second round on top and press the edges firmly together. Press gently over the whole surface so the filling sticks between the sheets.
- Put a small upside-down cup in the centre. Cut the sheets into 4 equal parts from the centre outwards, cut each quarter in half, then cut each half into 3 to get 24 strips. Separate each strip and twist it gently from the outer edge toward the centre without stretching the dough. Remove the cup.
- Optional: whisk the egg yolk with 2 teaspoons of water and brush it over the top (or brush with melted butter or ghee for an eggless version).
- Bake at 350°F for 20 to 25 minutes, until the top is golden brown.
