#shorts Easy Instant Pot Kothimbir Vadi
Ingredients
- Cilantro2 cups
- Chickpea flour¾ cups
- Rice flour2 tbsp
- Salt1 tsp
- Turmeric · ground0.13 tsp
- Garlic1 tbsp
- Chili pepper1 tsp
- Carom seed1 tsp
- Oil3 tbsp
- Baking soda or 1/2 teaspoon of eno fruit salt¼ tsp
- Sesame seed1 tbsp
Instructions
- Put the cilantro, besan, rice flour, salt, turmeric, garlic and green chillies in a medium bowl.
- Gently crush the carom seeds between your palms and add them to the bowl.
- Add the oil and the water, then mix well.
- Pour 1½ cups of water into the Instant Pot insert and set to Sauté so it starts to heat.
- Grease a 7½ inch stainless steel bowl with oil or cooking spray.
- Add the baking soda to the batter and mix well, then quickly pour the batter into the greased bowl.
- Place the bowl on the trivet and lower it into the Instant Pot. Close the lid with the pressure valve set to venting.
- Set the Instant Pot to Steam for 12 minutes, timed with an external timer because the built-in timer does not work on Steam/Venting.
- When the timer ends, press Cancel and wait 5 minutes before opening the pot.
- Carefully remove the bowl and cut the vadi into small squares.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat with half the oil. Scatter half the sesame seeds in the pan and arrange the vadi on top.
- Cook 2 to 3 minutes until the bottom is golden and crisp. Drizzle the remaining oil and sesame seeds over the top, carefully flip, and cook 2 to 3 minutes more until the other side is equally golden and crisp.
