#shorts Quick Indian-Style Naan Without Yeast
Ingredients
- Flour2 cups
- Baking powder2 tsp
- Salt1 tsp
- Yoghurt½ cups
- Oil2 tbsp
- Garlic8
- Cilantro · finely chopped¼ cups
- Butter2 tbsp
Instructions
- Put the flour, salt and baking powder in a bowl and mix well. Add the yogurt, oil and water, and mix with a spatula or fork until the flour has absorbed most of the liquid.
- Knead the dough by hand on a clean surface, with oiled palms, until it forms a smooth ball. Cover with a towel and rest for 10 minutes.
- Knead the dough again briefly to smooth it, then divide it into 6 equal parts. Roll each into a ball and keep covered.
- Heat a cast iron skillet over medium heat.
- Dust the work surface lightly with flour and roll one ball into an oval about 6 to 7 inches long and 4 to 5 inches wide. Sprinkle with a little garlic and cilantro and press them in so they stick.
- Carefully transfer the naan to the hot pan, garlic-cilantro side up. Cook on medium-high heat for 2 to 3 minutes until bubbly and the bottom is lightly golden.
- Flip and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes.
- Brush the naan with butter or oil. Repeat with the remaining dough balls; you may roll them all in advance and cook them one by one.
