#shorts Sheera | Sooji Halwa
Ingredients
- Fine sooji1 cup
- Ghee½ cups
- Banana1
- Milk2 cups
- Saffron1 pinch
- Sugar⅔ cups
- Cardamom · ground¾ tsp
- Chopped nuts¼ cups
- Raisin¼ cups
Instructions
- Add the ghee and sooji to a pan and roast over medium heat for 8-10 minutes, stirring constantly, until the sooji turns light golden and smells fragrant.
- Lower the heat, add the banana and mash it with the back of a spatula as you stir.
- Heat the milk and water in the microwave until hot but not boiling, about 3 minutes. Add slowly to the pan, stirring constantly; take care as it may steam and splatter.
- Once the liquids are fully mixed in, add the saffron. Cover and cook on low heat for 5 minutes, until the sooji absorbs all the liquid.
- Add the sugar, cardamom and half the nuts. Mix well, then cook covered on low heat for 5 minutes. The sheera thickens as it cools.
- Garnish with the remaining nuts and raisins.
