Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Set a pellet smoker or charcoal grill/smoker up for indirect cooking at 325°F (163°C).
  2. Shape the ground beef into 1/4 lb patties with a burger press or by hand, and season both sides with AP and Steak seasonings.
  3. Put the hamburger steaks on the grill and cook for 30 minutes, or until they reach 130°F internal.
  4. Rinse, quarter and dice the potatoes. Put them in a large pot, cover with water by 2 inches, add the garlic and a pinch of salt, and set over medium-high heat. Boil for 15 minutes until tender.
  5. Drain the potatoes in a colander, then return them to the pot. Add the sour cream, butter and milk and mash until creamy and smooth. Season with salt and black pepper to taste and keep warm.
  6. Slice the onion and mushrooms into thin strips. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large sauté pan over medium heat. Sauté the onion for 3 minutes, add the mushrooms and cook until the onions are browned and the mushrooms are tender.
  7. In a small pot over medium heat, whisk 2 cups cold water with 2 packets of instant brown gravy mix and bring to a boil. Add this gravy to the onion and mushroom pan and turn off the heat.
  8. Line a sheet pan with foil, spread the green beans on it, drizzle with olive oil and season with AP seasoning.
  9. Move the burgers to a half-size aluminium pan or baking dish, pour the mushroom and onion gravy over them and cook for another 10-12 minutes.
  10. Place the sheet pan of green beans on the grill beside the burgers and roast for 10-12 minutes.
  11. To serve, mound the garlic mashed potatoes on a plate, top with the hamburger steak and plenty of gravy, and add the green beans on the side.
