Soft & Chewy Brown Butter Valentine's Day Cookies!
Ingredients
- Butter1 cup + 2 tbsp
- Sugar¾ cups
- Brown sugar¾ cups
- Egg2
- Vanilla2 tsp
- Flour2 ¼ cups
- Milk powder · dried3 tbsp
- Salt · flakes1 tsp
- Baking soda1 tsp
- Cupid's Blend M&Ms1 ½ cups
- Chocolate chip1 cup
Instructions
- Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat and let it simmer.
- Keep cooking, stirring now and then, until the butter turns golden brown with brown flecks on the bottom and sides of the pan. This takes 7 to 10 minutes.
- Pour the browned butter into a small bowl and chill in the refrigerator until soft and semi-set, not solid.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F. Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, beat the cooled brown butter with the white and light brown sugars for a few minutes until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs and vanilla and beat until creamy.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour, dried milk powder, sea salt and baking soda. Add to the wet mixture and mix just until no dry flour is visible.
- Fold in the M&Ms and white chocolate by hand with a spatula.
- Measure the dough with a large 3-tablespoon scoop, place on the lined sheets spaced apart (about 6 per sheet). Smaller cookies need less baking time.
- Bake at 375°F for exactly 10 minutes, until golden at the edges and soft in the centre.
- Immediately after baking, place a large round cookie cutter over each cookie and spin it to reshape the edges, then sprinkle with sea salt flakes and gently flatten with the base of a glass.
- Move the cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.
