Sticky Toffee Pudding
Ingredientes
- Date200 g
- Baking soda1 colher de chá
- Butter12 colheres de sopa
- Brown sugar1 ½ xícara
- Egg2
- Flour1 ⅓ xícara
- Baking powder1 colher de chá
- Salt¼ colher de chá
- Creme de leite1 xícara
- Vanilla1 colher de chá
Modo de preparo
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease an 8-inch baking dish.
- Chop the pitted dates and put them in a bowl with the baking soda. Pour the boiling water over them and let them soak for about 10 minutes to soften.
- In a mixing bowl, beat the butter and brown sugar until fluffy, about 2 minutes.
- Add the eggs and vanilla extract and beat until combined.
- Sift in the flour, baking powder and salt, and fold gently into the wet ingredients. Add the soaked dates with any remaining soaking liquid and mix until combined.
- Pour the batter into the greased dish and spread evenly. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the centre comes out clean.
- While the pudding bakes, put the sauce ingredients except the vanilla extract in a saucepan. Melt over medium heat, stirring occasionally, then simmer for 2 to 3 minutes until smooth and slightly thickened.
- Take the sauce off the heat, add the vanilla extract and stir once more.
- Pierce the warm pudding all over, then spread about half the warm sauce over it, right to the edges, so the sponge is fully covered.
- Serve with any remaining sauce drizzled on top.
