Summer Dessert Goals: Easy Peach Galette! #shorts
Ingredients
- Flour1 ⅓ cups + 1 tbsp
- Sugar6 tbsp
- Salt½ tsp
- Butter8 ½ tbsp
- Egg1
- Peach1 lb
- Cinnamon · ground½ tsp
- Vanilla½ tsp
Instructions
- Pulse the flour, sugar and salt together in a food processor.
- Add the cold butter cubes and pulse until pea-sized. Add ice water one tablespoon at a time, pulsing between additions, starting with 5 tablespoons, until the dough clumps and holds together when pressed.
- Pat the dough into a disk, dust with flour, wrap in plastic and chill for at least 1 hour (up to 3 days).
- Heat the oven to 425°F. Roll the dough on a floured sheet of parchment into a 12-inch circle and slide it with the parchment onto a rimmed baking sheet. Chill while you make the filling.
- Mix the 1/4 cup sugar, 1 tablespoon flour and cinnamon. Slice the peaches 1/2 inch thick, toss with the flour mixture, then add vanilla and stir gently until the flour is fully mixed in.
- Arrange the peaches in a circle over the dough from the outside in, leaving a 2-inch border. Pour off any excess juice, dot the peaches with the 1/2 tablespoon butter, then fold the border over the fruit and pinch the overlapping edges, patching any cracks.
- Brush the crust with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sugar. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the crust is golden and the peach juices look syrupy.
- Let the galette rest for 15 minutes before serving.
