SUPER easy 1-pot - Scallion (Green Onion) Tofu
Ingredients
- Tofu300 g
- Scallion2
- Chili pepper1
- Vegetable oil
- Salt
- Oyster sauce1 tbsp
- Soy sauce1 tbsp
- Sugar½ tsp
- Cornstarch1 tbsp
Instructions
- Separate the white and green parts of the scallions. Cut the white parts into bite-size chunks, and slice the green parts and the chili into thin rounds for garnish.
- Heat a large wok over medium heat and add 2 heaping tablespoons of oil (less for a non-stick pan). Slide in the tofu, cut it into chunks, and pan-fry each side until lightly golden and holding its shape. Only flip once a crust has formed.
- Meanwhile, in a bowl with the white scallion parts, stir together the vegan oyster sauce, soy sauce, sugar, cornstarch and water until smooth.
- When the tofu is done, pour in the sauce and gently toss. Simmer for about 30 seconds, tossing occasionally, until the flavours meld.
- Taste and adjust with more soy sauce, or add a little water for a saucier dish.
- Garnish with the green scallion parts and chili, toss once more, and serve immediately with rice.
