The 30-Minute Spaghetti I Make for People I Love
Ingredients
- Ground beef1 lb
- Sausage8 oz
- Onion200 g
- Garlic20 g
- Salt
- Oregano · dried1 g
- Chili flake1 g
- Tomato paste75 g
- Beef15 g
- Tomato · crushed28 oz
- Sugar7–8 g
- Basil10 g
- Spaghetti450 g
- Olive oil
- Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- In a large heavy pot, brown the ground beef and sausage over medium-high heat in oil, breaking them up constantly until the meat is browned and in pea-sized pieces.
- Add the diced onion, garlic and a pinch of salt. Cook for 3-5 minutes until the onion is translucent and soft.
- Stir in the tomato paste and cook, stirring often, for about 2 minutes until it darkens to a rusty red and starts to caramelize.
- Add the crushed tomatoes, sugar, bouillon, chili flakes, oregano and water and stir until combined.
- Bring to a simmer, then reduce to medium-low. Partly cover, leaving a gap for steam, and simmer about 20 minutes until thick, stirring every 5 minutes to prevent scorching.
- Meanwhile, cook the spaghetti in boiling salted water according to the package.
- Drain the spaghetti well, toss with a little olive oil and let it steam for 3-4 minutes.
- Off the heat, stir in the chopped basil, taste and add salt if needed.
- Serve the spaghetti topped with a generous scoop of meat sauce and plenty of grated Parmesan.
