The Best Afternoon Snack #snacks
Ingredients
- Sausage · ground1 lb
- Egg1
- Onion1
- Breadcrumb¾ cups
- Salt½ tsp
- Pepper½ tsp
- Puff pastry
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, mix the sausage, egg, onion, breadcrumbs, salt and pepper, then set aside.
- Roll the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface into a rough 12 x 14-inch (30 x 35 cm) rectangle.
- Cut the pastry lengthwise in half to make two 6 x 14-inch (15 x 35 cm) strips.
- Divide the filling in half. On each strip, shape half the filling into a log along the length of the pastry, and brush the edges with egg wash.
- Wrap the pastry over the filling to form a log, trim the edge if needed, and press with a fork to seal. Prick holes in the top with the fork.
- Cut each log into pieces about 1½ inches (4 cm) long, measured at the seam side, and place on the prepared sheet. This makes about 20 sausage rolls.
- Brush with egg wash and bake for 35-40 minutes, until puffed and golden brown.
- Let cool for 15 minutes before serving.
