Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Boil the ziti in a large pot of water with 1 tablespoon of salt until al dente, then drain.
  2. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large pan. Sauté the chopped onion until slightly golden, then add the minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes.
  3. Add the meat and cook over high heat, breaking it up with a wooden spoon, until no longer pink, about 4-5 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, paprika and chili flakes. Add the tomato sauce and water, simmer for 4-5 minutes, then turn off the heat.
  4. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
  5. Spread a thin layer of sauce in the bottom of a 9x13-inch casserole dish. Mix the drained pasta with the meat sauce and pour half into the dish. Dot with half the ricotta, then sprinkle half the mozzarella and half the Parmesan.
  6. Pour the remaining pasta mixture over the cheese layer, then dot with the remaining ricotta and top with the rest of the mozzarella and Parmesan.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until the cheese is melted and golden.
  8. Let rest for 10-15 minutes before serving.
