The Best Patty Melt You'll Ever Make
Ingredientes
- Onion2
- Olive oil2 colheres de sopa
- Salt1 colher de chá
- Maionese5 colheres de sopa
- Ketchup2 colheres de sopa
- Dijon mustard1 colher de sopa
- Apple cider vinegar1 colher de chá
- Garlic½ colher de chá
- Cayenne pepper1 pitada
- Ground beef1 ½ lb
- Worcestershire sauce1 colher de sopa
- Black pepper¼ colher de chá
- Bread8 fatias
- Swiss cheese8 fatias
- Butter4 colheres de sopa
Modo de preparo
- Heat a large pan or pot over medium-high heat with the olive oil. Add the onions, salt and water, and cover. Cook for 10 minutes, then uncover, lower the heat to medium-low and cook, stirring occasionally, for about 20 to 30 minutes until caramelized. Add water and lower the heat as needed to prevent burning.
- Stir all the sauce ingredients together, then taste and season with salt and pepper if needed. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, mix the beef, salt, pepper and Worcestershire sauce, then shape into 4 oblong patties the size of the bread slices.
- Heat a large cast iron pan over medium heat with a little olive oil. Sear the patties for about 3 to 4 minutes per side until cooked to your liking, then remove and wipe out excess grease.
- Butter one side of each bread slice. Place 4 slices butter side down in the pan. Top each with a slice of cheese, a patty, the onions, and another slice of cheese.
- Spread the sauce on the remaining bread slices and place them on the patties. When the bottom is well browned, flip carefully and brown the other side until both sides are golden. Serve immediately, with any leftover sauce as a dip.
