The Easiest Garlic Naan Recipe You'll Ever Try
Ingredients
- Sugar2 tsp
- Yeast1 ½ tsp
- Milk¾ cups
- Greek yoghurt¾ cups
- Vegetable oil¼ cups
- Garlic4 cloves
- Flour4 cups
- Baking powder1 tsp
- Salt1 tsp
- Butter3 tbsp
- Cilantro1 tsp
Instructions
- Mix the warm water, sugar and yeast. Let it stand for 5 to 10 minutes, until it starts to bubble on top.
- Add the milk, yogurt, oil, minced garlic, flour, baking powder and salt.
- Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead with floured hands for 3 to 5 minutes, until smooth.
- Lightly oil the mixing bowl, put the dough in, and cover with plastic wrap. Let it rest at room temperature for about an hour, until doubled in size.
- Divide the dough into 10 equal pieces and roll each into a ball. Roll each ball into a large oval about 6 inches long and 1/8 inch thick.
- Cook one naan on a hot, oiled skillet until bubbles form on top, about 1 to 2 minutes.
- Brush the top with a little oil, flip, and cook another 1 to 2 minutes, until large golden spots appear on the bottom.
- Wrap the cooked naan in a clean kitchen towel. Repeat with the rest.
- Mix the melted butter with the minced garlic and brush over each naan. Top with the fresh herb of your choice.
