The GREAT Cast Iron Peach Cobbler Bake Off - Who Makes It Better?
Ingredients
- Butter3 tbsp
- Peach · peeled sliced, peeled thinly sliced6
- Brown sugar⅓ cups
- Sugar2 tbsp + 1 box
- Cinnamon½ tsp
- Nutmeg
- Vanilla1 tsp
- Honey
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Butter a 10-inch Dutch oven or deep 10-inch cast iron skillet.
- Melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced peaches, brown sugar, white sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg, and cook about 10 minutes, stirring now and then, until the peaches soften slightly. Take off the heat and stir in the vanilla.
- Make the cornbread mix as the box directs, adding 1/3 cup sugar if you want it sweeter. Spread the batter into the Dutch oven or skillet, then spoon the peaches and their juice on top.
- Bake about 25 minutes, until about three-quarters baked through so it stays a little gooey. About 5 minutes before it is done, arrange the thinly sliced peach on top.
- Drizzle with honey, sprinkle with cinnamon, and serve warm.
