The Italian Sandwich You’ll Keep Making #shorts
Ingredients
- Baguette1
- Mozzarella cheese8–10 slices
- Tomato2
- Salt
- Black pepper
- Red wine vinegar1–2 tsp
- Basil½ cups
- Extra virgin olive oil3 tbsp
- Garlic3 cloves
- Salami8–10 slices
- Prosciutto4–6 slices
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix the olive oil and garlic. Cut the baguette in half lengthwise, then into 4 pieces (or 8 pieces for smaller sandwiches to fit a skillet). Brush the cut sides with the garlic oil.
- Preheat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat. Toast the bread cut side down for 1–2 minutes, until golden and crisp. If you like, flip and toast the top for another minute.
- On the bottom halves, layer the mozzarella, salami and prosciutto. Add the tomatoes, season lightly with salt and pepper, and drizzle with just enough red wine vinegar to brighten the tomatoes. Top with the basil.
- Spread the pesto on the top halves (about 2 tablespoons per sandwich). Close the sandwiches, rest for 1–2 minutes, then slice and serve.
