This Apple Galette Is Bakery-Worthy (But So Easy to Make)
Ingredientes
- Flour1 ⅓ xícara
- Sugar6 colheres de sopa
- Salt0,63 colher de chá
- Butter · diced10 colheres de sopa
- Egg1
- Apple1 ¼ lb
- Cinnamon1 colher de chá
Modo de preparo
- Whisk the flour, sugar and salt together in a large bowl. Cut in the cold butter cubes with a pastry blender until the mix is crumbly with pea-sized bits of butter.
- Drizzle in 5 tablespoons ice water and stir with a fork until shaggy. If the dough crumbles when pinched, add more ice water 1 teaspoon at a time. Press gently into a disk without kneading, wrap, and chill at least 1 hour.
- Heat the oven to 400°F. Roll the dough on floured parchment into a 12–13 inch circle, move it with the parchment to a rimmed baking sheet, and chill while you prepare the apples.
- Slice the apples into 1/8-inch slices (peeling is optional). Mix the sugar, cinnamon and salt. Arrange the apples in overlapping rows over the dough, leaving a 2-inch border, and sprinkle with the cinnamon sugar.
- Fold the border up over the apples, pleating as you go. Dot the apples with the diced butter, brush the crust with beaten egg, and sprinkle with coarse sugar.
- Bake at 400°F for 35–40 minutes, until the crust is deep golden and the apples are tender with lightly caramelized edges. Cool on the baking sheet for 15 minutes before slicing.
