This Big Bash Bar One Cake is inspired by the Foodies of SA cake decorating series
Ingredients
- Chocolate1 box + 6 + 1
- Cream½ cups
- Nestlé Caramel Treat Dairy Dessert¼ cans
Instructions
- Preheat the oven and prepare the chocolate cake mix according to the package instructions (or bake it as cupcakes).
- Pour the batter into two greased 21 cm round pans.
- Bake the cakes according to the package directions.
- Cool completely on a wire rack, then refrigerate until firm, about 1 hour.
- Coarsely chop the 6 Bar-One bars. Heat the dessert and cooking cream in the microwave until warm.
- Add the chopped chocolate, leave for 5 minutes without stirring, then stir until smooth and glossy.
- Set the ganache aside to cool to a warm, pourable consistency that clings to the cake.
- To shape a heart: score a plus sign on top, cut off the two bottom wedges, attach them to the top with icing, and trim a small triangle from the centre to form the dip.
- Apply a thin crumb coat of chocolate icing and chill for 15 minutes. Add a thick final layer, stack the second cake on top and ice the sides smooth.
- Pour the ganache over the top to drip down the sides. Pipe the caramel treat and add the extra Bar-One pieces on top.
- Chill to set, then slice and serve.
