- Pear½
- Apple½
- Kiwi½
- Soy sauce1 ½ cups
- Sugar½ cups
- Mirin½ cups
- Corn syrup¼ cups
- Toasted sesame oil3 tbsp
- Garlic3 tbsp
- Ginger½ tbsp
Instructions
- Rinse the short ribs under cold water, pat dry with paper towels and set aside.
- Peel and chop the fruits and vegetables. Blend them with ¼ cup water on high until completely smooth, then transfer to a large bowl.
- Add the soy sauce, sugar, mirin, corn syrup, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, chopped green onions and 1.5 cups water to the bowl and mix well.
- Layer the ribs in a large container, spooning 2 to 3 ladles of marinade under and over each single layer of ribs. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
- Place 3 to 4 strips of galbi in a large cold pan and pour in about ¼ cup of marinade. Cook over medium-high heat for 6 to 7 minutes, flipping often, until nicely charred on the outside.
- Meanwhile, thinly slice the onion, soak in cold water for 10 minutes, then drain well. Lightly oil a large pan and cook the onion over low heat until it starts to soften.
- Cut the cooked short ribs into bite-sized pieces and set them on the warm onions. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds, and serve with rice and kimchi.
