This Steak Salad Tastes Like a Restaurant Meal 🥩
Ingredients
- Beef1
- Saltto taste
- Black pepper
- Butter1–2 tbsp
- Arugula5 oz
- Red onion¼
- Parmesan cheese¼ cups
- Olive oil3 tbsp
- Lemon1 tbsp
- Balsamic vinegar1 tbsp
- Dijon mustard1 tsp
- Honey1 tsp
- Pepperto taste
Instructions
- Pat the steak dry with paper towels. Let it sit at room temperature for 15 to 20 minutes, then season both sides generously with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
- In a small bowl or jar, whisk together the olive oil, lemon juice, balsamic vinegar, Dijon mustard, honey, salt and pepper until smooth. Taste and adjust the seasoning.
- Heat a cast iron skillet or heavy pan over high heat until very hot. Add the steak and cook without moving it for 2 to 3 minutes, until a deep golden crust forms.
- Flip the steak and add the butter. As it melts and foams, tilt the pan and spoon the butter over the steak for 1 to 2 minutes.
- Keep cooking to your preferred doneness: rare 2 to 3 minutes per side, medium-rare 3 to 4 minutes per side, medium 4 to 5 minutes per side. Cooking time varies with the steak's thickness.
- Move the steak to a board or plate and rest it for 5 to 10 minutes before slicing.
- In a large bowl, combine the arugula, red onion and Parmesan. Drizzle over the dressing and toss gently until lightly coated.
- Slice the steak against the grain and lay it on top of the salad. Serve immediately.
