Ultimate Grilled Cheese Sandwich
Ingredients
- Texas toast8 slices
- Butter4 tbsp
- Cheddar cheese4 slices
- Gouda cheese4 slices
- Havarti cheese4 slices
- Bread8 slices
Instructions
- Spread 1/2 Tbsp of butter on one side of each slice of bread.
- Heat a cast iron or heavy non-stick pan over medium-low heat (if using a griddle, set it to 275°F). Place 2 slices of bread in the pan, buttered side down.
- Stack the cheeses on one slice: cheddar, then Havarti, then Gouda. Once the bread is golden brown, close the sandwich with the toasted sides outside.
- Cook until the bread is deep golden brown, flipping once and pressing lightly so the bread sticks to the cheese. Total cooking time is 5-6 minutes, keeping the heat medium-low.
- Once the cheese has melted and the bread is browned, remove to a plate and cut each sandwich diagonally in half. Repeat with the remaining sandwiches.
