Vegan Nashville Hot Cauliflower Bites
Ingredients
- Cauliflower1 head
- Milk⅓ cups
- Hot sauce7 tsp
- Garlic powder1 tsp
- Onion powder½ tsp
- Salt½ tsp
- Flour¼ cups
- Starch3 tbsp
- Baking powder½ tsp
- Oil1 tsp
- Oil or melted vegan butter1 tbsp
- Cayenne pepper½ tsp
- Black pepper1 tsp
- Sugar1 tsp
- Paprika1 tsp
- Poultry seasoning½ tsp
- Vinegar1 tbsp
Instructions
- Chop the cauliflower into florets and set aside. Line a baking dish with parchment and preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Whisk the batter ingredients together quickly, since it thickens within about half a minute.
- Toss the cauliflower florets in the batter until coated. Spread them on the parchment-lined dish and spray oil over the top. For extra crispiness, sprinkle 2-3 tablespoons of breadcrumbs over the florets.
- Bake at 425°F for 25 minutes (35 minutes if you plan to serve with hot sauce on the side).
- Meanwhile, mix the Nashville hot sauce ingredients in a large bowl. The sauce can be doubled for a larger batch of cauliflower.
- Take the dish out of the oven and let the cauliflower cool for 5 minutes. Add it to the sauce bowl and toss gently to coat.
- Return the coated cauliflower to the baking dish and bake at 400°F for 15 minutes or longer.
