- Rice · cooked½ cups
- Oats½ cups
- Whole wheat flour2 tbsp
- Soy sauce2 tbsp

Instructions
- Mash the beans roughly against the side of a large bowl, or use a food processor.

- Shape into four large patties or six smaller ones.
- Coat both sides of each patty in the breadcrumbs or wheat germ. Let them rest for a while so they firm up.
- Heat the oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Fry the patties on both sides for about 3-4 minutes per side, until very crisp and brown.
- Alternatively, bake at 350°F (about 175°C) for about 30 minutes, brushing lightly with a little oil first for colour and texture.
- Cooked patties can be frozen and reheated in the microwave later.
