Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Pat the fish dry on both sides and place it in a baking dish.
  2. Mix the salt, cayenne and 1/2 tsp Aleppo pepper in a small bowl, sprinkle over the fish, drizzle with 2 tbsp olive oil and rub to coat evenly.
  3. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, until the fish flakes easily and is cooked through.
  4. While the fish bakes, heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Add the onion and sauté for 4 to 5 minutes until translucent.
  5. Add the garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant, then stir in the cilantro.
  6. Add the tahini, water and lemon juice and stir until smooth and creamy, adding more water as needed.
  7. Season with the salt and 1 tsp Aleppo pepper, then simmer gently for a few minutes until slightly thickened.
  8. Heat 2 tbsp olive oil in a pan over medium heat and toast the pine nuts until golden, about 5 minutes.
  9. Put the baked fish on a serving dish, spoon the warm tahini sauce over it generously, scatter with the toasted pine nuts and chopped cilantro, and serve right away with rice or pita.
