What's the best Way to Make a Reuben Sandwich
Ingredients
- Butter12 tbsp
- Corned beef · thinly sliced1 ⅓ lb
- Bread8
- Swiss cheese8 slices
- Sauerkraut2 cups
- Thousand island dressing or Russian dressing1 cup
Instructions
- Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a cast iron pan, flat top or griddle over medium to medium-high heat. Add the corned beef and heat through, about 4 to 6 minutes, turning it every minute or so.
- Melt 1 tablespoon of butter and use it to toast 2 slices of bread, about 2 minutes.
- Remove the bread, melt another tablespoon of butter in the pan, then flip the bread so the toasted side faces up.
- Spread 1/4 cup of dressing across both slices right away.
- Layer the corned beef, 2 slices of Swiss cheese and about 1/2 cup of sauerkraut on one slice.
- Top with the second slice, dressing side down, and press with a spatula.
- Cook the sandwich 1 to 2 minutes per side, then slice and serve.
- Repeat the process three more times to make 4 sandwiches in total, or cook them together at once.
