Why Irish Oatmeal Tastes So Much Better
Ingredients
- Milk2 cups
- Oats1 cup
- Salt1 pinch
- Cream
- Brown sugar
Instructions
- In a medium heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine the milk, water, oats and salt.
- Cover and bring to a simmer over medium-low heat.
- Lower the heat to low and cook, stirring often and gently, for about 55 to 60 minutes, until thickened and the oats are tender.
- Divide into bowls and serve right away, topped with cream and brown sugar if you like.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat with a splash of milk or water, either in the microwave briefly or on the stove.
