You're Cutting Scones Wrong
Ingredients
- Flour1 cup
- Sugar2 ½ tbsp
- Baking powder¾ tsp
- Butter4 ½ tbsp
- Milk⅓ cups + 1 tbsp
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 325°F (165°C) only if your model needs it.
- Whisk the flour, sugar and baking powder together in a medium bowl.
- Rub the cold diced butter into the flour with your fingertips until it looks like fine breadcrumbs.
- Gradually add the milk and mix lightly until combined.
- Turn the mixture onto a surface and gently bring it into a dough without kneading.
- Pat the dough into a disc about 1 inch (2.5 cm) thick.
- Cut straight down with a 2½-inch (6.5 cm) round cutter without twisting, then brush only the tops with egg wash.
- Line the air fryer basket with parchment and place the scones evenly spaced apart.
- Bake at 325°F (165°C) for 15–18 minutes, until golden on top and firm when lightly pressed.
- Transfer to a wire rack and let cool.
- To reheat leftovers, warm them in the air fryer at 350°F (180°C) for 1–2 minutes.
